Pizza was on our minds Saturday night, but we needed to find a place in South Pas to be near an art gallery half our group was going to afterward. The suggestion was Mamma's Brick Oven Pizza, a relaxed family-style pizza and pasta restaurant. Sounded good to us, so we went on by.
A lot of restaurants in that area rely on street parking, but Mamma's has it's own lot! The restaurant is small with a handful of tables (inside and out) and a crowded kitchen area separated by a row of pizzas in a see-through case. The menus are between the checkered tablecloths and the glass coverings, so sit down if you're staying, read the menu and then order at the counter. They must also have menus at the counter because a lot of people were skipping the sitting.
We ordered two pizzas - one medium, one large. The large was huge, I think we should have stuck with the medium. We also ordered some garlic knots to start. The garlic knots could have used a little bit more garlic, but were a good deal and a delicious treat while we waited.
The restaurant was packed when we got there, the owner came by a couple of times to make sure we were doing ok.
The pizza was good, greasy and thin and impossible to fold, but still tasty. I wouldn't go out of my way for Mamma's, but if I were craving pizza in South Pas, I know where I'd head.
