Caminiti's

For years there was a small restaurant on the corner of Mariposa & Burbank Blvd called The Place For Steaks. The dark and tiny restaurant looked expensive and I never made it there. Recently, new owners bought the place and turned it into a friendly neighborhood pizza & sports bar.

Caminiti's has everything a sports bar needs--Flat Screen TV's on every wall, beer, wings, pizza, burgers and even a few pasta and salad dishes for the ladies.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and happened in on a Chiefs vs Raiders game. The restaurant crowd was rowdy but during the football game my table was too busy watching to engage in much conversation.

I ordered the meatball sub and my dining mates shared a Hawaiian Pizza and one started with a small side salad. The salad had the house dressing which needed a few more spices to put it apart from typical oil & vinegar.

The food came and the owners encouraged us to eat slowly and stay to watch the game. My meatball sub was big--there were at least 4 meatballs on it, and I got the small sandwich! It was on a crispy roll smothered in marinara and melty cheese. I wish it had maybe a little oregano or chili flakes on it, but it was still delicious. I should not have eaten the whole thing. The pizza was a very thin crust pie. It also needed a little flavor kick with spices, but otherwise was good.

On their website, Caminiti's suggests a daily special for each day of the week. Unlimited wings is one such special and I hope to go back the night that event is happening!
